Organisms, such as humans, are equipped with the ability to protect themselves from external bacteria. With a focus on this ability, we arrived at a special antibacterial component called Lysozyme, which can be found in breast milk, tears, saliva, and egg whites. Lysozyme has an immunological effect for preventing the invasion or spread of infectious bacteria to the skin or inside the body. However, the weak point of this protein is that its effects weaken due to contact with the air or heating. Therefore, we collaborated with medical departments at universities and research facilities of agricultural colleges to research combining lysozyme with dietary fibers that are used in health food products and other applications. As a result, we were successful in using biotechnology to develop a new ingredient that enhances the stability and activity of Lysozyme, and we named that ingredient LYZOX.

We used electron microscopy to observe the morphology of the effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa*1.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa normally has a long and thin rod-like shape (photos on the leftphotos on the top). However, the effects of LYZOX greatly change the shape, thereby making it impossible to maintain a normal shape (photos on the rightphotos on the bottom).*1Pseudomonas aeruginosa is common example of a normal bacterial flora that is spread throughout environments on earth. Immunocompromised individuals who are infected by it can experience opportunistic infective diseases.

Candida grows by lengthening cells called filiform mycelium (photos on the leftphotos on the top). However, the effects of LYZOX make it impossible for the mycelium to elongate (photos on the rightphotos on the bottom).
*2Candida is a type of normal bacterial flora that grows in many areas of the body, such as the face, hands and feet, and delicate zones (genitalia and surrounding areas) in both healthy and unhealthy individuals. Changes to the growing environment caused by factors, such as decreased immunocompetence, can cause the mycelium to elongate (photos on the leftphotos on the top), thereby causing inflammatory diseases such as oral candidiasis or vaginal candidiasis.

LYZOX has gained attention for being extremely safe and highly functional. It has broad application in a variety of areas, such as oral applications in the field of dentistry and dermatological applications in the field of healthcare.
Skin problems are a source of concern for a number of people. The face, in particular, is constantly exposed to outside air, and it is the part of the body where skin can become rough. Moreover, abnormal increases in a variety of unwanted bacteria or in normal bacterial floral such as mold can cause repeated infections, such as roughness, redness, swelling, or itching.
Therefore, we applied the function of LYZOX to skincare and developed cosmetics that use LYZOX.
